Where ZK security work actually happens
Published by ZK Security. Operated by Savy Advisors LLC, an Arizona limited liability company, Buckeye, Arizona.
This is not a list of Discords to join. It is a short map of the places a reviewer goes when a guide on this site is not enough: the bug tracker, the lab that maintains the library, the standard, the forum thread, and the textbook. Each entry says what to use it for. Member counts are omitted on purpose — a large chat is not evidence that anyone there can audit a circuit.
We do not publish a directory of individual researchers. A name without a sourced body of work turns into a popularity list, and that is not a security resource. Firms with public ZK work are on the auditor directory. The concepts those communities argue about are written up in the guides.
Communities
Start here for the ZK Bug Tracker and for learning groups that treat circuit bugs as a research subject, not a marketing topic. When a guide on this site mentions a historical circomlib misuse, the tracker is often the primary list.
0xPARC
A non-profit research and development organization supporting applied cryptography and ZK application development, known for programs like ZK learning groups and the ZK Bug Tracker.
FreePSE is where a lot of open Ethereum ZK infrastructure is actually built: Semaphore, MACI, and the halo2 work that production zkEVMs forked. Reading their repositories is more useful than reading a thread about them.
Privacy & Scaling Explorations (PSE)
An Ethereum Foundation-supported research lab building open-source zero-knowledge and privacy infrastructure, including Semaphore, MACI, TLSNotary, and zkEVM research.
FreeAn interview record of people who design proof systems. Use it to hear how a team describes its own threat model before you read the audit report.
Zero Knowledge Podcast
The long-running podcast hosted by Anna Rose covering zero-knowledge research, proof systems, and the teams building ZK infrastructure, with an active community around it.
FreeA monthly digest. It is a way to notice a paper or a release, not a substitute for the paper. If a title looks like it changes a stack you ship, go to the primary source the newsletter cites.
zkMesh
A monthly newsletter curating the latest in decentralized privacy technology: zero-knowledge research papers, protocol releases, and ecosystem news.
FreeThe forum where rollup and proof-system designs are argued in public, including threads that later became production parameters. Search it when a design claims a security property you cannot find in the docs.
ethresear.ch
The Ethereum research forum where much of the public discussion of rollups, proof systems, and cryptographic protocol design happens, including foundational ZK rollup threads.
FreePuzzle events let an engineer try an under-constrained circuit instead of only reading about one. They are practice, not a credential.
ZK Hack
A community running ZK-focused puzzle competitions, study sessions, and hackathon-style events, widely used as an on-ramp into practical ZK security skills.
FreeThe standards effort and the Community Reference. Use it when you need shared vocabulary for a setup, a compiler, or a security definition, and expect the documents to move slower than the implementations.
ZKProof
An open-industry academic initiative working to standardize zero-knowledge proof techniques, publishing the ZKProof Community Reference and running annual workshops.
FreeA bibliography, not a ranking. It is the right place to find a course or a paper trail. It will not tell you which implementation is safe to deploy.
Awesome Zero-Knowledge Proofs
A community-curated GitHub list of zero-knowledge proof resources: papers, courses, implementations, and applications, maintained under the Matter Labs organization.
FreeTalks from the same community as the podcast, on the record. Useful when you want a specific construction explained by the people who shipped it. Attendance is not free; the point of listing it is so the talks are findable.
ZK Summit
A recurring conference organized by the Zero Knowledge Podcast team, gathering researchers and practitioners for talks on proof systems, ZK applications, and security.
Least Authority's free textbook for the mathematics under zk-SNARKs. Read it when a proving-system choice stops making sense at the level of the guide and you need the algebra.
MoonMath Manual
A free, extensive textbook from Least Authority explaining the mathematics behind zk-SNARKs, aimed at developers and auditors who want to understand proof systems from first principles.
